A twist on the word "King".

Let me first say that Lord of the Rings was a grand trilogy. Perhaps reading the books would be the next best thing. I'm going to be truthful in reviewing your movie as every author deserves to hear so.

The Background is of decent quality. The Forest is accurate with good tone of gradients. I would suggest adding shadows to give it a more refined look. Perhaps shadows at the side of the tree bark to distill the shape of the treetops.

The Characters appearence is quite lifelike. Most splendid in that detail but I have to say the proportion seems a bit off. The Bodies doesn't accurately fit. You might want to take a look into tutorails on body proportion such as at Polykarbon (I'm not allowed to post the url but i'm sure you'll find it if you type it in google or such.)
Just a suggestion.

I'm glad to see the humor behind this! Haha, we bestow the title of King to many legends.

Well, I for one am looking forward to your next LOTR Parady. Good luck and keep practicing ole' chap!

Slightly-Crazy-Dude responds:

Thanks for the excellent review mate, so i think i will atleast give you a responce.

The background was the easy part, next time i will heed your advise and try and make it more "lifelike"

The characy=ters were drawn quite slowly, had to get detail correct you know. Proportions are off, i will look into this site you mentioned, hopefully i will learn a little.

Glad to see you enjoyed it and thanks for the excellent review. And im sure you will like my next attempt. Its a little different, but you will enjoy.

Seperated as individuals, connected by fate.

Very impressive flash. It seemed the backgrounds for this flash was all hand drawned. Also, you placed a great detail in every object. That really captured the colors.

The Music fitted well into this. I just love these types of music. Very solemn and ambient.

As many has mentioned, this movie captures emotions exceptionally well. Watching this I can see traces of anxiety, depression, fear, joy, hope, contempt, determination, and free-spirited. (Not in particular order of the scenes!)

Taking a look at your ending sequence of the elcipse (or the end of the world?), I see that each one of us, are all embodied to Life as individuals. That message was clear and inspiring. And as you putted "An animation as diverse as life itself." That is very true in this sense. Excellent Work.

AloneInTheDark responds:

Finally, a personal intrepretation. Yes you are very right and see what i intended to show. The message is very simple. 'You are not alone on this planet'. There are many other things that u can notice and think about and i wont spoil it all yet.

Wonderful Array of Works

This showcase was great. To see many artists come together is a grand idea. I was really suprised to see my alias in the Audio credits, so thanks! Nice selection of music. So thats what you were looking for... heh.

Each movie was entertaining, both in it's content and style. Dim of the SFB did an excellent job with the menus! As well T0MMY's commitment to the project and it's organization. His idea to bring forth a collection of artist was insipirational and new. Who else can come up with such ideas?

I'm not sure who did the little Bios and avatars but it brought a smile to my face. Thanks.

Once again, Great job everyone, it has become a big success and I myself, have learned much.(Especially about time management!) It's truly been a honor to be involved in this project.

T0MMY responds:

I did the Bios and me and Dim together did the avatars. You'll notice about half of them have a different style than the other half.

Very Promising..

I was skepital at first, but wow! This is an impressive trailer. After watching your "Behind-the-scenes" flash, I have to admit that your placing a lot of hard work in this.

Good luck on your series, I'm looking forward to this!

Nothing quite like it!

First of all, I like to say amazing work!

Your preloader is quite creative. Using foreshadowing can serve the animator well, and pulled that of well! Immediately I was drone to think.. "Tripping in a arcade? Hmm.. Let's see more".

The story of a boy and his magic mushrooms was a clever theme. You added elements such as "conscience, consequences, fear, peer pressure and pleasure" within the conversation about the mushrooms. Much to today's society, these elements surely apply.

And in the chedder scene, how the mushroom effected Alex was amusing. Breaking out of convetional reality..etc. Nice phrase!
Also, the short clip when Percy ask "Dude, what the hell are you taking about?" was clever! Those commands of "give, open, close, pull, etc" were from the old age of adventure computer games. Gave me back memorys of Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones, and even sam and max. Monkey Island, haha, never played it but I can tell you have. Ah the wonders of point and click actions.

The Backgrounds + Effects- Well, you certaintly placed a lot of time in the backgrounds and effects. Great use of shadows and color. Also you place a few "hints" for us (the audience) to observe. Heh, such as in the first scene, the Sticker with the words "Alex's Mom". My guess is the name wasn't important but rather "who" she is.
The mushroom on the chalkboard? Yet more to look forward to in this film.
I see you support Alien Homid as well!

THe Characters in the story had varied personalities. But I find that Percy's appearence resembled somewhat to Larry! (A character from game, ages past). But neverless, great work on distilling character traits.

The Animation Quality is top notched. Your use of tweens and frame by frame is skillfully done. Much patience was placed in this movie. What striked me the most though was the animation of the faces. To me, it seem you were trying something completely different from other flashes. That effect added to the crispness of the film. The movement of the hair, eyes, mouth, ears, etc is just freaking good.

The Music was well played worked well with the scenes. Including the devouring of the first mushroom. Suspense!

In conclusion, I can see the much dedication and work you placed in this film and I commend you on your work as a animator. Good luck on your next episode and thanks for great film. You got great talent.

Much Improvements! Great use of sprites.

Impressive work Vince. Glad to see you have improve much since the last episode. I found your battles great to behold. The movement and animation was right-on.

As always, great story and choice of music. Another addition I noticed was your text box and enlarged bitmaps. Glad you finally implenated that.

Another big thing was more variation of sound effects and visual effects. Glad to have seen it Vince.

Conclusion: A great final fantasy sprite movie that details on story and graphics.

Promising Story that broods on "Vampires"

Ah, great to see your new art! Your characters are better defined. I enjoy the perspective views for the backgrounds but stars just don't hang that low. haha. But aside from that, use of perspective was great. Glad to see the walking was the fluid movement of the foot.I also noticed the blur effects. That was keen! But I'm a bit unaware still of why Ky seems to follow Tray though he's been betrayed. Guess I'll found soon enough.

It seemed odd that voices were used in the introduction that converted to texts.

Well, neverless excellent job Danthi, I'm awaiting to see what you have planned for the next episode!

-Richard "BR"

Danthi responds:

Hey BR! Glad you review no#2.
Ah! yes the relationship of Ky & Tray, I'll explain a bit about it...Despite the fact that Tray betrayed Ky (who where best friends before, they are still kind of friends also at the same time they are rival but that will be reviled soon.
Thanks for your review BR! I know I haven’t been buy the Lightsaber crew forum lately, but I will try to visit sometime.

Intrelope Storyline set in a fantasy timeline.

Astonishing. I haven't seen a serious fantasy film in some time. Your prologue was well done, with the music working with the scenes.

Your artwork is extremly detailed but not as much compare with your backgrounds. The Character expressions were great. Perhaps adding a subtitle for the location the setting is at? (Such as Ten-towns?) Icewind Dale was a great game / triolgy and I'm glad to see you worked to its setting.

The Voices were sensational in my thought and you pull off this work quite well. I see quite a number of previews and trailers in your "other submissions", haha, well I hope to its grand sequel.

Artwork needs work, Goals were met.

Hmm not bad. The voices as you mentioned could clarify a bit more. The artwork of the NG army's members were decent. The Background on the alley seemed to come alive as a NES background ,haha. The messages were entertaining to read and the news content was good.

What needs to be added is subtitles for the diologues and a short name tag for each time a new member is screened. That could very well distinguish who is who.

To Paul, this flash defnitely improved over your last one(s). Keep improving man!

-BR

TheNGArmy responds:

Thanks man, i really appreciate that. I'll go back and add the names of each person as they appear. I'll see about subtitles in a week or two if the audio tweeking doesn't pan out.

Thanks for the review!

Great but Predictable

Hmm, well I got to say, this was a good film. As many has mentioned already, you placed a great deal on emotions.

What I was impressed by was your use of objects to layers zoom pans. Yeah, some of the perspective was incorrect but, its only a minor technical. Also, that window looked awfully like a picture frame. (Hey works with your next scene!)

I say your art was pretty good, you definitely got your handle down for motion tweening and replicating human movement (the running, the hand signals, the basketball dunk, oh my!)

Music- ah, my favorite catergory, good choice of music. Yeah, it is from the Spiderman movie, by Danny Elfman. Please credit him, if would do good.

Overall, wow, one wish has come true.
(Your from Hawaii, Mi? (Maui?) Didn't think I find anyone from Hawaii! Keep at it Cuz!)

AligatorHead responds:

"hoa brah, i fro hawaii cuz"
haha
